FCC ‘Looking Into’ Verizon’s $2 ‘Convenience Fee’

The Federal Communications Commission, the U.S regulator over the telecommunications industry, is reviewing Verizon’s just announced $2 “convenience fee” for making one-time payments online or by telephone.
Verizon, the nation’s largest wireless provider, said it would implement the fee Jan. 15.
The F.C.C. said in a statement on Friday that it would examine Verizon’s fee.
“On behalf of American consumers, we’re concerned about Verizon’s actions and are looking into the matter,” the statement said.
Verizon customers have been complaining on the company’s Facebook page since yesterday’s fee announcement.
