Online Returns: Amazon has Fastest Refund Time, Study Says

This is the busiest time for re-packing and sending back gifts that you didn’t like or don’t fit, but the biggest e-tailers have different return policies.
STELLAService, the consultancy that evaluates customer services qualities of online businesses, has done the legwork and road-tested the top 25 largest online retailers to see which ones have a customer-friendly return process – and the fastest.
At the top of the list: Amazon with 4.3 business days from the time of product return to refund date. Rounding out the top five are:  Best Buy, L.L. Bean, Apple and Williams-Sonoma – all with a 4.7 business day turnaround.
At the bottom of the list: Toys R Us (12.3), QVC (13), Zappos (13.3), Dell (14.3) and Avon (no refund yet).
“We ordered and returned (via USPS standard ground) several products from each retailer to various parts of the country over the last few weeks (understanding it may be even tougher during the days and weeks after Christmas),” STELLAService said.  “Your return and refund experience, as well as the policies you’re up against, will vary depending on where and when the gifter ordered your present.”
