Cars have become so high-tech, they can drive themselves. But the lonely bicycle hasn’t gotten much attention when it comes to the “Internet of Things” concept that is taking over our lives.
But the “smart bike”, with GPS-equipped handlebars and synchronized apps to measure distances and other data, is almost here. (Scroll down for images and video.)
A Kickstarter campaign for the Vanhawks Valour connects a cool looking smart bike with smartphone apps, bringing high-tech to within reach of your fingertips.
I know. You’re thinking: how can bicyclists keep their eye on the road with such enticing tech? This smart bike concept also helps bikers keep their focus on nearby vehicles, especially during busy commuting times. (See video below.)
The bike campaign has already raised more than $400,000, well past its $100,000 funding goal. Backers can pre-order the bike now for $1,049 (single-speed fixed gear) or $1,199 for a multi-speed unit, both of which are said to ship in November.
